Oral cancer develops when a DNA mutation develops in the cells of the lips or mouth. The mutation causes cancer cells to grow and multiply out of control, unlike normal cells A cluster of oral cancer cells forms a tumor Over time, cancer cells may spread to other parts of the head and neck or other parts of the body
Oral cancer usually develops in the squamous cells that line the lips and mouth. The majority of oral cancers are squamous cell carcinomas
It is not known what causes mutations in squamous cells However, doctors have discovered several factors that contribute to the development of cancer

Symptoms of oral cancer:
- pain that does not go away
- skin swelling or thickening in the lining of the mouth
- white not reddish spot in the inside of the mouth
- loose teeth
- restriction of dentures
