Bacterial vaginosis

Bacterial vaginosis is a form of vaginal inflammation in which one or more types of bacteria in the normal flora of the vagina multiply excessively.

Bacterial vaginosis mostly occurs in women during their reproductive years, although this condition can occur in women of any age. Doctors do not know the exact cause of the disease, but some actions increase the risk of vaginosis, for example: unprotected sex, frequent showering

In bacterial vaginosis, one or more types of bacteria present in the normal flora of the vagina multiply excessively. As a rule, "good" bacteria (lactobacilli) are found in greater numbers in the vagina than "bad" bacteria (anaerobic bacteria). If the number of anaerobic bacteria is increased, they disturb the natural balance between the vaginal micro-organisms and cause bacterial vaginosis.
